Ten year anniversary concert, March 2022
ln March 2022 we celebrated ten years of the Boiler House Singers in a wonderful concert at The Old Church, Stoke Newington. Despite 8 (!) singers dropping out that morning due to an outbreak of Covid, the choir sang brilliantly and all our hard work practising paid off. We had our wonderful musicians, Jo, Kev and Gwenan with us, and were joined by Helen on flute and Laura on violin. Choir member Damion sang a memorable solo on Wayfaring Stranger.
After the concert, we turned it in to a party, with delicious snacks brought to share by the choir, and fantastic young jazz band King Julian.
This was our first concert in this beautiful and atmospheric venue with its excellent acousitcs, and it was a sell-out.
Thanks to all who came along for what was a very special celebratory night, it felt like a real community event.
We also managed to raise £800 for brilliant local charity N16 Boiler House Community Space. Not only do they host fantastic activities (including our choir rehearsals) they do vital work in the community, including Food Pantry, started in Lockdown 2020 and their Good Place programme.
